In October last year, I received the below email from a lovely lady called Clarissa.
Dear Count the Kicks,
I have just received a place in the London Marathon ballot and would like to run for you. The charity has been such a support for my sister who lost my nephew Baby Elliott last year and I would like to support you to stop this sad event happening for other mummies. I’ll set up a fundraising page and get running.
Since this email, Clarissa has been training tirelessly for her 26.2 mile run around London this weekend. She has completed a few half marathons in the past and applied for the London Marathon EIGHT times before finally get in the ballot this year.
Despite a 10 day flu in February, Clarissa continued with her training with jelly bean and hug support from her sister Samantha. We would like to thank all of Clarissa’s family for their tremendous support in helping her over the past few months as well as her work colleagues during the cake sales and especially to Katherine who made a very generous donation to the charity which will be matched by her employers UBS.
Clarissa has raised £3,286.19 for Kicks Count. We are amazed and truly grateful for her dedication in her training and fundraising. If you would like to sponsor Clarissa you can visit her JustGiving page – www.justgiving.com/ClarissaMarathon
Clarissa’s final message is “My running number is 6925. Look out for me in London on Sunday 24 April 2016!!!”
GOOD LUCK FOR SUNDAY!
