Matthew and Gemma suffered the heart breaking loss of their daughter Lily on 31st January 2016, 37 weeks into their pregnancy. Previous scans and midwife appointments suggested a healthy baby with no cause for concern. On the morning of Sunday 31st January 2016, Gemma went into labour and was advised to go into hospital. On arrival, they were devastated to learn that their baby’s heart beat could not be found and that she had passed away. Shortly afterwards, Gemma gave birth naturally to Lily, who was born sleeping.
Matthew is Manager at Crediton United Football Club and the family decided to hold an epic football tournament in her memory. As Lily was born at 37 weeks, they thought it would be fitting to ask the teams to play football for a gruelling 37 hours from 10pm on Friday 8th July, finishing at midday on Sunday 10th July. Whilst the match is being played on Saturday 9th July, there will be a Fun Day to raise further funds for Kicks Count. There will be refreshments, alcoholic beverages, a BBQ, raffle, Beat the Goalie and other fun activities throughout the day.
The event is at Crediton United Football Club, Marsh Lane, Devon, EX17 1ES. If you would like more information, please contact Gemma at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The family hoped to raise £950 for the charity, but they have already raised a phenomenal £2,898.19 on their JustGiving page – www.justgiving.com/Matthew-Trenaman – donations are very welcome!
THANK YOU to everyone involved.
