Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and her singer/songwriter husband Kanye West have hired a surrogate to carry their third child, and US Weekly have confirmed she’s already three months pregnant.
Kim had a traumatic time with her first two pregnancies. Following the birth of North, 4 and Saint, 19 months, Kim expressed her desire to grow her brood even further. However with the complications from her first two pregnancies she decided to use a surrogate. Doctors previously told Kim it could be unsafe to carry another child herself after she suffered from pre-eclampsia in her first pregnancy, and placenta accreta with both her pregnancies.
In a blog post, Kim said:
‘My placenta stayed attached inside my uterus, which is a condition called placenta accreta.
‘This is a high-risk condition that happens when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall.
‘My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails.’
Kim has previously spoken about the option of surrogacy with her mum Kris, on an episode of KUWTK:
‘I’ve come to the conclusion in my mind that I can’t carry another one. So now I want to explore surrogacy.’
A source has told US Weekly that Kim and Kanye’s chosen surrogate – a mum from San Diego in her late twenties – is now three months pregnant.
This means the pair will be expecting their third child around January 2018.
