We were thrilled when Louise got in touch to say that she was taking part in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run on 2 October 2016 and wanted to raise funds for Kicks Count. Then she told us her sister Pauline was wanting to run with her! Great family team work.
Sadly though, the ladies were running in memory of a very special little lady, Alicia. Louise and her husband suffered the tragic heartbreak of losing their first born daughter in July 2012 when she was born sleeping at 25 weeks. They have had two healthy children since. The family wanted to remember Alicia in their first 10k run so set up JustGiving pages to collect sponsors which you can find here – Louise and Pauline.
The sisters did AMAZINGLY well! The sun was shining in Glasgow on the day and they finished their run in 1 hour and 14 minutes without stopping! Plus the fantastic fundraisers collected a phenomenal £900 in donations from their generous friends and family. This could pay for a whopping 64,000 leaflets for us to distribute to pregnant ladies throughout the UK in hospitals and doctor surgeries to educate and empower more expectant mothers to seek medical help if they experience a reduction in movements so that we can reduce the UK stillbirth rate.
THANK YOU to Louise and Pauline.
