We are so honoured and thrilled to have won the Butterfly Award for Most Media Impact 2015!

The Butterfly Awards is a beautiful, inspirational ceremony which celebrates survivors and champions of baby loss. The category of Most Media Impact was for individuals, products, organisations or professionals who have made a big impact in the media, bringing the topic of babyloss into the mainstream, and we are so proud to have won.

Over the last year we have worked really hard to reach as many people as possible and to bring the subjects of stillbirth, baby loss and the importance of fetal movement out of the shadows and into mainstream media. We are fortunate to have such fantastic support, in particular across our social media, and that featuring on ITV’s” Surprise, Surprise” reached and touched so many people. The advertising campaign featuring Holly Willoughby and Alesha Dixon was the most wonderful gift we could have ever wished for and was a vital turning point in getting people to talk about the very real issue of stillbirth.

“Having recently given birth myself, this campaign really resonates with me. The sad fact is that a third of stillborn babies are perfectly formed and born at gestation, when they could safely be delivered. That is a frightening statistic and that is why I fully support the work that Count the Kicks are doing in educating mums-to-be about being aware of their baby’s movements.” Holly Willoughby

The work involved in running this campaign is not for the faint hearted, and featuring on “Surprise, Surprise” was the product of months of hard work.  The awareness and opportunities it has created have been beyond our wildest dreams and our small team are working tirelessly to continue the momentum and ensure more babies go home with their families.

Winning the award was bitter-sweet, two other deserving organisations/groups were also in our category and we wish that we all could have won! We would like to congratulate Angel Parents and Emily’s Star.Elizabeth, Catherine and Sarah with Katie from Emily’s Star

EMILY’S STAR – Our charities have supported each other for some time. The team at Emily’s Star work extremely hard to raise awareness of & support parents who have received a Trisomy 18 diagnosis. Set up by inspirational mum Katie following the death of her beautiful daughter Emily in 2012, the charity have not only supported many other parents through very dark days, they also fund neonatal boxes for babies born prematurely and spread the word of Trisomy 18, the UK’s SECOND most common syndrome after Down’s Syndrome. You can find out more about them, and show your support, on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/emilysstar220212 or their website: http://www.emilysstar.co.uk/

ANGEL PARENTS –  Angel Parents recognise that the more awareness they create, the more we can ALL help with “changing things together”.  The Angel Parent community
support parents through grief, fundraise and create awareness for all baby loss. Their Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/nationaldayofrememberance
