At 41 weeks pregnant, you and your baby are both reaching the final stages of this incredible journey.

Your little one is fully developed, measuring around 20 inches (or even more!) and weighing approximately 7 to 9 pounds.

For you, these final days may feel like a mix of excitement and anticipation, perhaps tinged with a hint of impatience! Remember, you've come so far!

If you've had a baby before, you'll be offered a membrane sweep at your 41-week appointment. A membrane sweep involves having a vaginal (internal) examination that stimulates the cervix (neck of your womb) to produce hormones that may trigger natural labour. You don't have to have this – discuss what's right for you with your midwife.

It's essential to stay attuned to your baby's movements during this time - their regular movement is a reassuring indicator of their wellbeing. If you notice any changes, such as a decrease in movements, call your maternity unit for guidance straight away.

As you eagerly await the arrival of your baby, take this time to pamper yourself and indulge in some self-care, if you can. Whether it's treating yourself to a soothing bath, enjoying a relaxing massage or simply taking a moment to breathe and reflect, remember to prioritise your well-being during these final days of pregnancy.
