Welcome to the 42-week milestone - your baby seems content with their cosy accommodation!

At this point, additional monitoring may be recommended to ensure your baby's wellbeing. Though the majority of babies remain healthy at this stage, it's important to know the risk of stillbirth does slightly increase beyond 42 weeks.

Predicting which babies might be at higher risk is still uncertain, so an induction is often suggested if labour hasn't started by this point.

It's essential to stay attuned to your baby's movements during this time - their regular movement is a reassuring indicator of their health. If you notice any changes, such as a decrease in movements, call your maternity unit for guidance straight away.
