Each year October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Particularly poignant is 9-15 October - Baby Loss Awareness Week. Throughout the week bereaved parents, their families and friends, unite with each other and others across the world to commemorate their babies’ lives.

Baby Loss Awareness Week also provides a chance to raise awareness about the issues surrounding pregnancy and baby loss in the UK. This year we are calling for improved bereavement support for families affected by baby and pregnancy loss.

In the UK, Baby Loss Awareness Week is a collaboration between more than 40 charities, including Kicks Count.

Now in its 17th year, Baby Loss Awareness Week calls for tangible improvements in research, care and policy around bereavement support and highlights bereavement support and services available for anyone affected by the death of a baby at any stage.

How can I be involved?

WEAR AN OFFICIAL PIN

SHARE YOUR BREAK THE SILENCE STORY

As a charity dedicated to preventing stillbirth and neonatal death, we believe that conversation around baby loss is an important way to break the taboo, prevent it from happening to others and help parents grieving their baby be understood and supported. Help break the silence and tell your story, we'd be honoured to hear about and share your precious babies. Including a photograph of your baby is very much welcome.

Please note blogs need to be approved so will not appear immediately. You can view stories that have already been shared HERE.

WAVE OF LIGHT

If you'd like to take part in the Wave of Light, simply light a candle at 7pm on 15th October and join others across the globe remembering the babies who lit up our lives for too short a time.

During the Wave of Light, our CEO will be going live on our Facebook page at 7pm with a candle burning. If you have ordered a personalised image, your baby's name will be read out and remembered.

Please do take a picture of your candle burning and post it to Facebook or Twitter using the hastag #waveoflight
